– Matthew Perconti was named the director of activities at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley's Mountainside Residential Care Center.
Perconti oversees the planning and implementation of stimulating and diverse programs, outings and experiences for residents at Mountainside. This includes physical, cognitive, sensory and entertaining activities on the premises or outside the facility.
"Matthew has a vast amount of experience with people of varying levels of physical and cognitive challenges and considers every resident a special and valued individual," said Philip Mehl, administrator of Mountainside Residential Care Center. "He has a genuine enthusiasm and a sincere interest in enhancing the lives of all the residents with exciting, out-of-the-box ideas that incorporate music, technology and staff interaction with the residents. We are happy to have him on our team."
Perconti comes to Mountainside from the ARC of Ulster-Greene where he worked as the Community Habilitation Specialist.
"Mountainside was a first choice for me. It's a great size and a top-notch long –term care facility," he said. "It feels like I belong here."
Perconti is specialized in sub-acute rehabilitation and long term care and trained in the treatment of traumatic and acquired brain injury. However, he has an extensive and varied background. Among other things, Perconti studied graphic design, worked at a ceramics studio and ran an art studio. Additionally, he has a comprehensive knowledge of music and plays six instruments – percussion, drums, mandolin, guitar, violin and the didgeridoo.
